In my painting, I have always been interested in the issue of mankind. In the best that there is inside us, as well as in the most secret weaknesses; in everything that affects us. All of that is reflected in my paintings. People in my paintings make huge effort, in spite of all the obstacles, and I really feel with them. This effort is often so grotesque that it evokes smiles. Despite all that I cannot help them. Whether or not their endeavour is fulfilled does not depend on my hand but absolutely on the eyes, minds and above all the hearts of patient observers. That means that art and the history of mankind in my paintings are manifested in only through the observation of the onlooker. All you really need is patience, a mere look, despite the fact – or perhaps because of the fact – that that my paintings do not depict motion. I was invited to the Mikulov Art Symposium 2005 as a foreign guest. Unfortunately, I don't speak or understand Czech and I did not learn that during those several days of my stay but even so, many friendships were established.
