Anna Balážová

Anna Balážová is part of a generation of young artists who find it natural to move across various media. They understand image as such in its broader semantic context; what they found crucial is the “conceptual” communication of their views and feelings which might, paradoxically, have surprisingly romanticizing starting points. While in its substance, this is in fact “rediscovering” of possible messages via art, the choice of means of expression reflects sophisticated experiences with today’s art. Anna Balážová was born on January 19, 1987. After graduating from a course of applied painting at the Art Secondary School in Ostrava which she attended between 2001 and 2006, she now studies at the Faculty of Visual Arts in Brno. Betweenm 2006 and 2010, she attended the painting studio 3 led by the painter-systematic Pert Kvíčala. She spent some time at Johannes Gutenberg Universität in Mainz (2009) and in the video studio of the FAVU led by Jesper Alvaer and Jiří Ptáček (2009 – 2010). Since 2010 she has been attending FAVU’s video studio led by Martin Zet where she has become an assistant. She has recently been interested in animation which is related to the processual character of her work. She likes to exhibit her works along with Katarína Hládeková.
