Dílna Mikulov - Art symposium

Libor Lípa

Libor Lípa (1963) is on e of the founders of the Mikulov Art Symposium "dílna". He comes from Mikulov; a graduate of the Arts and Design Secondary School in Brno, he became a founding member of the A6 artistic group. This was an association of several south Moravian artists, active for just over two years, between 1984 and 1986. Ten years later, Libor Lípa cofounded an opinion movement, The Oversensitive. Since the mid-1980s, he performed with the band U nás se svítí; in 1999, they released the album Green Blue. He quit as the band’s front man in 2004. Around this time, he left Mikulov for Prague. He took part in the first year of the Mikulov Art Symposium, and became its curator in 2000. In 2013, he simultaneously worked on several sets of paintings; among other things, he continued working on his unfinished series of “clearings” – monumental canvases on which simple strokes with black spray paints modulate light intensities of reflective silver foils. As part of his 50th birthday celebration, he presented a set of interventions into paintings bought in antique shops. After the symposium’s conclusion, these works were featured in the exhibition 3, along with Eva Eisler and Peter Fabo at the Kvalitář galéry in Prague.
