Aldin Popaja

ALDIN POPAJA (1971, Bosnia and Herzegovina) is originally a Bosnian artist who completed his studies of painting in Praguewhich became the base of his activities. The path of his artistic expression has developed from realistic and hyper-realistic painting to gradual fragmentation of themes of memory with loosening shapes and colours. In the last four years, his paintings have assumed the form of abstract variation and subjective play with symbols of content. The expressive value of his canvases does contain the initial subjective level but at the same time strongly transcends it, arriving at a more general testimony about our recent and ancient past, and opening issues that have these days again become highly topical. Due to his unselfish approach to work and his will to transcend experience onto the social level, his work deserves great attention as he interprets his own as well as a collective identity. 1995–2000 Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design Prague, 2003–2010 assistant in studio of paining at Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design Prague.
