Petr Veselý

PETR VESELÝ (1953) works economically. There is nothing superfluous on his canvases; their colour schemes are usually left in the basic white colour which is most cases contentually concretized with grey and, rarely, red, as if mere flashes. Light and shadow in memory, a feeling or a vision grasped internally as the idea of the given or the scrutinized. His artistic form is also naturally and parallelly developed on the object field inclining to a more geometrical expression. In the painting as well as in the object we observe a fragment of a house, a window, a figural silhouette, a bucket and a rag, an old bathtub, essence, temporality. His work is extended by figural series which the author has been exploring and discovering for years. Another of his firmly connected forms of expression is poetry. Petr writes beautiful poems. 1973–1979 Academy of Fine Arts Prague, 2002–2007 head of studio of painting Faculty of Fine Arts Brno, member of the Journeymen of Painting.
